The ‘General’ captain of the Black Stars has finally smoked the peace pipe with the coach of the team, James Kwesi Appiah on Tuesday in Accra after his recent panic decision to quit the national team permanently after he was stripped off the captaincy.
The relationship between the two which have been sour have been ironed out ahead of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
“All I can say is that the meeting went and this is nothing cosmetic and both parties left the meeting satisfied and happy,” Asante Fokuo, a source close to Appiah, revealed to Ghanasoccernet.com
Kayserispor striker who was elevated as the ‘General Captain’ earlier this month led to the country’s all-time goalscorer from retiring from the national team.
Andre Ayew was said to be named as his successor after he retired from the Black Stars.
Baby Jet as he is affectionately called rescinded his retirement decision after the intervention of President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
He accepted the General Captain position and Andre Ayew was named Captain of the Black Stars ahead of the highly anticipated African football tournament in Egypt which will commence on 21st June 2019.
This happens to be Asamoah Gyan’s seventh appearance at the AFCON as he hopes his team win the trophy for the first time since 1982.
